Swedish Blonde History

Swedish Blonde was founded in 1997 to bring classical Scandinavian design into the homes of America. The first furniture collection was inspired by the simple elegance of Gustavian furniture made in Sweden during the 18th Century. The goal has been to create pieces just as enduring as the originals,featuring a refined style coupled with modern functionality for today's interior environments.

People around the world have admired Swedish design for many years. But since the notable rise of popularity and interest in Swedish modern design in the 1950's and 1960's, there have been very limited sources for purchasing the furnishings which constitute such a clean and fresh look. As an American designer living in Sweden in the mid-1980's, Ann Milläng believed that the time was right to introduce a new version of Swedish design to the North American market. It has become clear that the growing complexity of modern life surrounded by the swirl of information overload has driven people to increasingly search for a sense of simplicity in their living and work environments. The elements of Swedish design - and especially our Gustavian reproductions featuring pale colorings and handrubbed finishes provide the calm and serene style they are seeking.
